FAQ

Storykeepers will explore seven areas:

  • Leading Yourself
  • Leading Your Home
  • Leading in Your Local Church
  • Leading in Your Community
  • Leading Through Pain
  • Leading Followers
  • Leading Leaders

Titus 2 speaks of the older teaching the younger–and each one of us is both older than someone and younger than someone!  Mentoring is for every stage.  You always should have someone older than you that you are looking to and someone younger than you looking to you.

During the Storykeepers retreat, after each concept is presented, we will break into “younger” and “older” discussion groups to talk about how we can walk out the concepts just presented.

Storykeepers is for women from ages 20 to 100!

Both!  Storykeepers is a mentoring program that focuses on sharing key Biblical leadership principles and life experience to help mentor you and tips and insights to help you mentor others in those same areas.  The pattern is both to continually learn and to continually share what you know.  The most effective mentor is one who shares as she goes.

Absolutely!

So . . . a few things Storykeepers is not:

  • It is not a place to share a lot of answers with a one-size-fits-all approach to what YOU face.
  • It is not trying to make you like anyone else in the room.
  • It is not giving you a picture of what you are “supposed” to be and then helping you create a roadmap to get there.

Instead, Storykeepers is designed to:

  • Lead you to the place where you can receive your personal answer to your personal journey.
  • Remind you that the lights and platforms and demands on you that HE didn’t put there will quickly crowd out the bandwidth for you to accomplish the assignment He DID ask you to complete.
  • Point you to what is most necessary from you in your leadership and help you begin filling in the blanks on YOUR page.

Storykeepers is designed not only to mentor you in the seven areas but also to help you learn more about how to share these lessons with others and how to teach them in your own mentoring group. Storykeepers material will be available for purchase by those who have completed this retreat.

When you attend the Storykeepers retreat, you will receive a Storykeepers book and resources as part of your registration.

We will be releasing this material for purchase so that you can use it in your own mentoring groups; however, it will ONLY be available for order by those who have been certified. The Storykeepers experience begins in person. Therefore, access to materials is reserved for those who have completed the official retreat experience under Melani’s direction.

Once you have been through the program and become certified, you may then order materials to use if you elect to begin your own mentoring group.

Yes, meals will be part of the Storykeepers retreat and are included in your registration.

Storykeepers is focused on up-close mentoring and the importance of physical presence in sharing lessons.  Therefore, we believe the retreat component is an essential part of the program.  Just ordering a workbook from us would neither provide mentoring to you nor equip you to mentor, so we have chosen to make the material available only to those who have become certified by completing the in-person retreat and who will then be sharing through an in-person mentoring group.

As Storykeepers expands, we hope you will be able to become part of the program in the future!

Through nearly five decades in ministry, Melani has learned some very valuable (and sometime difficult) lessons. Each new season brings its own opportunities and challenges, but Biblical leadership principles transcend seasons.

More than a decade ago, she developed a burden to share with women in ministry lessons she learned, and this led to the birth of the Nonfiction retreat. In the past ten years of traveling full time ministering throughout the country and around the world, she has talked with hundreds of women in ministry.

Over the past few years, she has felt an increasing desire to find a way to invest in leaders in a smaller setting to be able to share more of her heart.

This year, that stirring birthed a new mentoring program that launches in 2026, Storykeepers: Wisdom in Community. Through each chapter of the program, Melani will be sharing with you her personal life lessons in seven key areas of leadership. The accompanying book and resources include lesson notes for reference and reflection questions for you to process through the concepts and apply them to your own life and ministry for seasons to come.
